I saw these on TV awhile back. I was wondering if anyone has tried them. I am thinking of getting some for my brother for his birthday...

They look great. I don't think they would make push ups easier but they might make it smoother for the body.

Opinions anyone?!!

I can see the benefit... they might really help make the motion work smoother through the wrist joint. I wonder though if they might really come in as an extra gimmick that looks cool but doesn't deliver true value? So many people do push ups daily with ease. Maybe if he felt his wrists held him back from doing as many as he liked?

I've bought way to many gimmicks (and been gifted them too) and am really seeking to minimize them lately! I'd be more included to start with fewer and work up using the best form I can.

It sort of reminds me of lifting weights... with bad form you can often lift more, but with good form build muscle better and stay healthier too.

There are some cool body weight only exercise books available now. Maybe if he's into working out he'd enjoy one of those?

yeah, some girsl seems to know everything about me.

I do have similar stuf cheapo from Kmart for 5 bucks or so.

difference they are not rotating.

1 issue is the wrist and forearm muscles, it makes it somehow easier in case You have wrist - issue or shortened forearms muscles or tendons.
however You need to keep the stabilty also in the wrist now, since it is not on teh floor so in a different way it makes the wrist stronger - perhaps getting it ready for punches.

The different arms position makes the whole biomechanic chains work differently
(similar effect as in running in various shoes or barefoot etc - effect goes all the way to hips glutse and abs)
so it feel different in shoulders , pecs and upper back.

also becauuse teh hands are kinda elevated of the ground, if doing proper pushups and going all the way down, till the hipples touch teh carpet, You going that extra few cms (as well as inches) lower - slightly negative position,
and that is extra demanding for pecs forcing them to work in stretched position.

All this is making it harder (maybe just different, but if new to this, than harder).

When I was doing pushups I was using it only when I was after harder version, not if I was after more easy reps.

Not doing pushups lately.

Thanks Rudy. It sounds like they are more like something to be worked up to and my bro hasn't been working out that long. Next year! Thank you for the in depth info.
