David Wolfe's fruit tree planting foundation video http://www.youtube.com/user/upzirons

I love the amazing work they are doing and was thinking of something similar here.

I'm an ideas person and have given alot of ideas away. One idea i have but have no power behind me and am hoping someone else would take up this idea. Is a gift a fruit tree website. The website can be called gift a fruit tree. Where peopel can buy fruit trees and give them as gifts. Or where they can purcahse one and its planted to some areas where people need them.

You can already gift trees! Check out: http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com.au/

You can gift garden plots, fruit trees and more. It's an amazing program. $35 AUD will gift 10 fruit trees.

Cheers,
Sheryl

Excellent idea rawconnection!

I too am thinking it'd be great to have something like that locally as well as the oxfam one.

Wouldn't it be great to gift some lovely heirloom fruit trees and maybe plant them where people (especially those on a low income) frequent wherever we live?

Have you ever heard of geurilla planting? People go and plant local native plants in public areas without council permission, helping to keep endemic native species alive in the area.

Currently I'm growing some calistemon seedlings on my desk at work. I'd be happy to swap these for some heirloom fruit seedlings from seed when they've grown.

I was thinking of something along the lines of continually growing seedlings on my desk (it makes me happy to see something living there) and placing them outside my house on the nature strip with 'free to good home' on them. Wouldn't cost me much at all... Smiley.

Hehe,

I must admit I'm not a green thumb. I haven't really grown plants from seed before, but if I'm going to be trapped in an office, I'd rather be growing something and seeing life than sterile work units.
