Klein...it doesn't matter how big your body is...what matters is how big your heart is.

Like the old saying goes...."it isn't the size of the dog in the fight....it's the size of the fight in the dog"...

I was skinny all my life and copped a lot of flack over it....then I got big (relatively) from about 140 to 200 ( at 6 feet)...now I'm "skinny" again...

I have bigger fish to catch than worry about my weight ;-)

John

PS: I should add that at 200 it was low body fat %....now I'm about 155...depends what you want I guess....what you wanna focus on.

My candida rehashed after eating lots of bananas and i love my bananas.

Getting sores on my neck and eczema. I ordered some wheatgrass cream and miracle 11 gel for my skin and am now juicing lots of veggies and eating dark leafy greens with only one fruit. The dark greens keep it at bay.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Kebbster the only problem I have with going over 10 % fat is candida. That's why I'm following 811. Once I rid of it then I will introduce more fat but again not that much.

I feel so out of place now. My friends need to have a few beers every day. I use to drink but I was never really big on it, and now that I'm followng this life style I just find it hard to be around all of it. Even before this I didn't really fit into the party scene... Well thanks again.

Klein, I highly recommend getting the book. It helps a lot if you are trying to follow 811. I also found these great films on youtube http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WrWihaTBSAI&NR=1. They are great for inspiration. Also check out the videos by Doug Graham's wife, Rozalind Gruben, on emotions and eating.

theres a time where you will lose the old weight as your body cleans out....then theres the important rebuilding that begins...

exercise is super important esp strength training, this will help counteract the 'skinnys'...

i still get called skinny...im 173cm and 55-56kilos(121-123pounds)...oh but healthy 'they' say...we tend to be the oddity these days,in a society that readily accepts that most people are around 15-30+ kilos overweight....

good for you Jen.....what great come back....

personally all bananas is disastrous, well for me anyway, totally threw my body out of whack...and when ive tried to eat bananas again,i feel terrible..get stomach pains -headaches constipation etc...and flares up my uc badly...and before i was mono banana-ing...i ate bananas most days no worries..

i was eating up to 30 a days for weeks and weeks...gross!!

For those of you that have 80/10/10 does Dr. Graham go over a meal plan for defeating candida? If so are you allowed to share that info? Or does he just say eat any kind of fruit and vegetables and you will see results.

The common knowledge is that going low-fat will do that. For example, eating high-fruit with no added fat (nuts, avoes etc) for a few days has been claimed to have achieved that.

Klein, giving up alcohol was really difficult for me too, its hard to feel socially accepted when your different, especially around drinkers who tend to think everyone should be drunk like them.

Some things that help:

You need to accept yourself that its ok to be a nondrinker and you can still have fun without it, once youve accepted it your friends will too. The biggest discovery for me was that my friends just wanted me out having fun with them, they didnt even notice i wasnt drunk too once theyd had a few. If your having fun, its a non-issue.

Being around rude and obnoxious drunks is another matter, but usually by that point its well into the night and if you leave they might be rude at the time, but in the morning they will either feel guilty for doing that to you, or will not remember that they did, so ignore them, go home, tell them all the stories of stupid stuff they did the next day. Hehe, payback can be fun, lol.

Be a photographer, taking lots of pics of the night can make it more fun for you and make it feel as if your part of things. Less useful when its just a few beers, but worth doing on a big night.

If its just a few beers, their socialising ability isnt going to be any looser than yours. Feeling part of things can just be a matter of drinking something tasty too. For me (and yeah not raw) this has meant drinking tea, sparkiling mineral water, that sort of thing. Alternatively bring some raw juice with you, you will have more zing than any of them.

Eating is another social thing to do, bring some tasty raw snacks that everyone will love, sharing is a joy in social circles.

Learn to dance. If your out and about this solves the issue of obnoxious drunks, i find a few hours into a night things get rather dull, conversation is rubbish coz everyone else is too drunk to notice that its bad, best solution for me has been to get up and dance, everyone else is happy to by that point in the night, so the night becomes fun again.

Trust me that you will get used to being the non-drinker, as long as you are comfortable with who you are, they will be too. Remember a few beers is just about getting together with friends, its entirely possible to do that and be the sober one.

Hope that helps  afro

I find the hottest looking guys are non drinkers. My hubby only drinks 1 or 2 whens hes out socialising kind of gets me upset since his dad is a chronic alcoholic and dont want to see him turn out the same.

Tomorrow I'll be sending the questions to Doug from THIS thread. You can ask him personally about 80 10 10 and candida or growing muscle if you like. The answers will be sent out in our newsletter.

For those of you who follow 811 do you have mini mono meals through out the day or just 3 large mono meals? I usually have green smoothie for breakfest, then I snack on fruits tell lunch (mini mono meals), then another green smoothie for lunch, and then through out the rest of the day I have mini mono meals. Is it best to stick to 3 large meals a day to give your digestive system a break? What do you all find works best?

Hi Klein. Doug Graham recommends 2 or 3 meals. He says at one point in the book that one of the reasons for failure is continued eating throughout the day. Maybe another question for Doug? The reasons for him recommending fewer but larger meals.

I found it hard in the beginning too, but the trick is to make the green smoothie as large as you can handle. I usually have about 2 litres in one go (don't guzzle it down, though  smiley). I also tend to eat/drink my breakfast meal later. Like 10 am, then the smoothie keeps me full for a long time.
