Hello again!

Through the topic of body weight exercises (BWE) I became curious:
Has anyone of you tried to use certain yoga exercises for strength training?

Bye
Andreas

absolutely...theres alot you can do...the five tibetans is one.....plank pose another-handstands-headstands-shoulderstands-backbends-camel pose-...sheesh theres so many...basiclaly you take a pos with yoga and hold it for long enough, its strength training in itself...unless its just lying flat on the floor in relax mode, lol

and fun.............

Hey Andreas, Check out this link

Kevin Gianni's Top 10 Body Weight Exercises

I subscribe to this Kevin's blog. He's a raw food advocate, personal trainer and a really good guy. There are some great body weight exercises there and from my previous yoga study some of them are indeed yoga poses.

Power Yoga and Ashtanga are probably the best for strength but all yoga trains strength.

I prefer Power Yoga popularised by Baron Baptiste and the style being taught by Duncan Peak in Sydney.  My yoga teacher trains with Duncan  http://www.powerliving.com.au/duncanpeak.htm

I find power yoga the most challenging of all my bodyweight strength training because of the different types of strength required to hold poses and also the mental aspect of it all as well.

Not that I was doing it for the strength training, but the 5 Tibetans have made my once bony girl arms much more muscular!
