Hi Jim,  yes would be interesting to see what Grant says.  I really believe if we were living in the jungle like the Anthropoid apes, with fresh air, clean bodies, low levels of bodyfat, the fact they haven't had a history of eating cooked food or had the 'pleasure' of experiencing any other of the human-created lifestyle killers then our need for water would be significantly lower.  I'm sure certain people need more water than others especially people holding more toxins and fat (not including the environment they live in/emotions they experience etc), these people are more dehydrated from the get go.    As uncle Dougie says 'The solution to pollution is dilution'. Yes I agree that the pee doesn't have to be completely clear, but ideally almost & i don't think it would hurt if it is.

I know I still have a fair way to go with losing toxic fat & I know having it in my body is more dehdrating than not.  A lot of toxins are produced during exercise as well so that definitely adds to the requirement ontop of all the other factors.

I really don't think I could physically drink the amount of water that would cause the kidneys to overwork, I feel there would be a cut off point and a decline in my performance and appearance rather than a noticeable improvement in both areas but I am definitely pondering what you are saying! Thanks :-D

Simon yeah not fair hey?! The persi's were a big part of me hanging in SA for so long!

In other news...

Went for a jog this morning in the hills around here, it was pretty challenging, I have some new shoes thank goodness so it was like jogging on air!
On rising had 1.5litres of water & Just enjoyed a GS with 8bananas and a couple of sticks of celery.  I'm going to start recording my food on Nutridiary, want to see if Im hitting the right ratios.
I got home a little late last night and had a fair few bananas in a smoothie as a result I had nightmares, this always happens when I eat too late...a lesson to remember. On the way home mum wanted to get dinner so we stopped at Sushi & she ordered a vego curry for herself & prawns for her boyf.  I walked upstairs after they had dinner and they were both holding their bellies saying 'I don't feel too good'....that dish being full of excito-toxins, fat, sugar, dairy and cooked within an inch of its life produces certain predictable results.  If I ate something like that now I would be in bed for a week with more than nightmares!

Hey Jen thanks a lot for changing the title, i want to be inspired & reminded of how important living in this moment is everytime I see my journal.  Seriously what else do we have except this moment?? shrug

What standards did I hold myself to today?

- Contribution:  Made mum & her boyfriend a raw smorgasbord....starting with Appetiser: banana milk-Ripe banana, celery, water blended
Main:
1) Avo&Orange dressing over fettucine zuchinni wrapped in iceberg lettuce
2) s'dried tom, cashew, basil dressing over spaghetti zuch
Dessert:
Avo & Banana icecream with a date sauce on a bed of dried bananas (was a crowd pleaser)

I must add that I don't eat this way and wouldn't usually recommend these combos but my mum & her boyf are not raw & I was appealing to tastebuds used to cooked food.
It was a lot of fun but I realise all the hassle that goes into food prep when its not really needed! I would much rather prepare and eat a mono meal of really ripe bananas.

*Sweat session:  45min hilly jog

*Lowfat raw veg:  Yes plus a half an avo tonight so I won't be having avo/overt fats again for a week or so.

*4litres water:  Didn't quite make 4litres, managed 3 but had plenty of water with my GS all day

*Inspiring literature:  2hrs of 80-10-10

*Yoga/resistance:  Not today but had an incling to do it all day

I felt slightly tense earlier today, I couldn't quite put my foot on why.  Possible reasons could be
1)Going to see my dad tomorrow
2)Ate too close to bed last night and suffered very real nightmares
3)Overtraining
I was sitting down with mum before and I was feeling really agitated and I just stopped and listened to my positive inner voice and it said 'you can choose how you feel whenever your ready' and immediately I snapped out of it, so great to know I have the power to control my state.

Hi FL great to see you are posting again and cogratulations on your trip!!

Just a point that jumped out at me in your last post was the point that you made that over training made you tense.  Could you please explain, if not too personal, how that could make you tense.  Just thought it related to me in some respect and I could be possibly over training to achieve my goals and not achieving them.  Apart from a mental attitutude with me.  hee hee.

Thanks

Just got back from my dads, have spent the last 2days cleaning his house.....now i want you to take a moment and visualize....a whiteant infested 2 storey house, the bottom floor ceiling to roof full of old electric radios dads collected from the tip, rubbish of every caliber, old burnout pots and pans, ancient books, newspapers from the 80's....the worst thing of all though, food that expired in 1994 then imagine a thick layer of dust over everything! There was nowhere for me to sleep so I pushed aside a lot of junk off the corner of the dusty couch, vaccumed it and slept there, mind you I woke up with a hangover too which im attributing to the dust, dirt and numerous chemicals my dad likes to spray around.  I would've slept outside but I didn't take my bivy bad :-((

My dad seems to be living in a time capsule, a disturbing one...like those places you see on A Current Affair, I must say it is slightly better than last time and he is very open to improving. Now it is a bit more acceptable after we cleaned for hours, actually we didn't even get to the 'cleaning' stage more like the 'removing' stage, removing one layer at a time in a hope to reveal the carpet/kitchen table top/stairway.  My dad is definitely eccentric and very lonely although he would rather DIE than admit he was lonely.

The highlight of my trip was not only to see dad but to see the horses I used to ride and it made me think how wrong it is to put a nasty peice of metal in a horses mouth and whack them with a crop into submission.  I checked out all the fruit trees that i never really payed attention to... we have 5 mango trees, a macadamia, lychee, mulberry and fig tree, wish it was summer.  Also dad took me across the road to the neighbours who has an organic vegie patch.  I got the most amazing greeeeeens!! Bokchoy, chinese broc, peas (very sweet), lettuce, spinach, it was all so tender and sweet, I was saying to mum if I had greens like this everyday I would be eating probably 50%greens 50%fruit!

Hi annette, thanks heaps for the congrats :-)
Overtraining can definitely make a person tense, Im not sure exacty phsiologically speaking what happens but when the body doesn't get enough recovery time it speaks up!  There is a good chance the overtraining can also be coupled with a lack of glucose/carbs to the brain and a lack of hydration, all these major contributors to feeling tense/agitated/emotional.  The body grows and reaps results during rest and recovery, if the body/mind is constantly in training mode the adrenals will also become exhausted and eventually if we ignore the overtraining signals we will 'hit the wall' and instead of positive results, injuries will follow, fatigue/apathy/lack of motivation will set in,  and performance will decline, ive been there, I couldn't exercise for months once after pushing it too much.  Its not only a case of finding the balance between rest and play but also cross training so particular muscles don't get overused and mentally we stayed stimulated and enthusiastic.  Does that answer your question ?

Hi MissBliss :-D What a beautiful post thanku! I love reading your posts they are always so unique & special and your poem is just lovely. Its going to be a raw picnic to remember :-)

I'm interested in hearing more about this. Especially about the mind being in Training Mode. When I got excited about running I barely thought about anything else. Even when I was working I would be thinking about running. Could you explain about the mind being in training mode?

I guess it's more about being in control of your thoughts and emotions more. I'm so keen to learn this.

yes, I hit the wall and have been sick in bed for the passed three days.  I am needing to seriously look at my training at eating to fuel and recover.

thanks once again

ah sweet sweet Free...how are you bella?

it sounds like you are doing tremendously, and learning at every curve, awesome!!

im doing fabulously..

back to fasting once per week,as i feel the need to at the moment....best way ever to shed anything unnecessary, whether its toxins,or excess weight,or mental /emotional stress~toxicity....

i certainly relate to the overtraining also...it left me feeling dull and ragged, and depleted...as i wasnt sleeping enough either...i sleep up to 11-12 hours now when i can,and 9 hours averaged on most days ...so thats improved...

also def agree with the necessity of cross training, gives the body a chance to workout all muscles and keeps the mind very active and inspired and fresh!!

think of you heaps Free....interesting visit with your Dad hey?

love to you sister...X

Hey jen, when I say body/mind I was referring to them as one entity but I really believe a lot of us suffer from overtraining of the mind too and if we were to look at the body and mind being separate from eachother then it seems to be that the mind creates the body & is a physical representation of whats going on in our heads....so if we are stressing about something or not giving enough attention to relaxation of the mind then physical injuries will manifest.  I know when i get really into my exercise I sortof get a little 'obsessed' with it but in a healthy way, I just feel so amazing that my mind wants more of that pleasurable feeling....I really subscribe to the theory that we do things out of the need to gain pleasure or avoid pain so maybe you can see the connection here between you thinking about running all the time & the pleasure factor?

Yeah me too! Isn't it great to know we have the power to choose any emotion we want to experience in any given moment?

Hey there Annette, how u doing today? I am concerned to hear you hit the wall :-( but on the positive side sometimes this needs to happen before we really connect up enough pain to our current ways and change for the better, and then manifest the results we deserve. x

Hi there Suay! Haven't seen u lurking for a while :-(  Great to hear you are doing so well, you always seem to be aiming higher and higher.  Its awesome that the fasting is working for you.  I have opted out of the once a week fasting because of the backflip my metabolism did after spending 32days (not in a row) on water in the last 13months or so...understandably it really confused my poor temple so im staying away for now, I think if i ever fast again it will be a long one at a retreat.
Ah yeah love to sleep! I get 11 or so when Im training harder, usually bout 9 most nights, wake almost every morning on 7.30am.
Interesting visit to dad?...to say the least :-DDD

Im going to start posting my daily entries in the 100day thread...
