Hi everyone,
I am NEW here and THINKING about going raw................

I am currently reading Victoria B's 12 steps to raw and my brain is in OVERLOAD - OMG..........

A bit about me:
Mum to three small monkees - 3yrs, 2yrs 11months
I currently have PND and I am resisiting taking drugs for it  Undecided
I have been overweight since I was 16yrs old (now 33yrs) and I am FED up
Fed up with:
feeling like crap
being tired
feeling foggy
having no energy
having no "life"
and having no enthusiasm for life

I was thinking about starting small with perhaps green smoothies for breakfast for the kids and I!!
What do you all think?
How did you all get started was it baby steps? I'd be really interested to know!
Thanks
Jxx

Well going raw (or at least eating more raw) will certainly "cure" all of these things over time. And I think green smoothies for breakfast is an excellent idea. Within weeks of starting to have GS for breakfast, I had so much energy, I didn’t know what to do with myself. Going raw also cleared up my life-long depression, so I am sure it would also help with your PND.

Hi Goddessjodi! Welcome to the forum.

I too was diagnosed with PND although looking back I think I had a history of depression and that it was just never picked up on. (I tried to kill myself when I was 9)

This is the number one reason that I stick to a raw diet. My children mean everything to me, and I'm sure yours do to you as well.

I am still a drama queen but don't get the days, weeks and months lows that I used to. Life is great! Two years into raw (I still eat some cooked occasionally) I am just improving all the time. I am truly starting to love living life instead of just surviving through it and hoping that I'll die fairly soon.

Green smoothies, I believe are the number one best thing that anyone can do for their health. Just the most fabulous way to chock nutrition in. It's a great place to start.

I've just started adding vanilla to my kids smoothies and they are adoring them! Cinnamon is also delish!

How did I get started? It's a long story and it's been typed here a few times. But in a nutshell, a family crises saw me unable to eat. Then when I could eat all I could digest was salad and fruit. I dropped a pile of weight really quickly. Then after a few months after the stress had died down I started eating loads of cooked food again and weight came back and so did my depression. Which, oddly enough, was the first time that I noticed that it had lifted.

So I decided to have mostly raw with a small amount of cooked at night and the more raw I got the more raw I wanted to be. Now I'm still bashing away my addictions one by one and they do still come back to haunt me from time to time but overall I'm really happy with how I've progressed.

Life these days is looking up all the time. I was just saying to a couple of friends on Saturday that for the first timein myh life I have to confidence to be active and not care if I run funny or can't ride a bike in a straight line. Like a child or my beloved doggie Bella, I just enjoy the activity for what it is now.

Life is good! I hope you find this too...

Welcome Goddessjodi - I hope you enjoy your journey because that is what our life is. I too am aiming for raw but am not going to beat myself up over any perceived failures.
I like your life stories Jenergy - they are inspiring.
I admit that I felt a bit 'out of place' because there are so many gorgeous and incredibly fit people here but hey it's only a matter of time before us newbs are there too!!
