Oh I hope you dont' think I'm insensitive but that made me laugh so much! I used to think exactly the samely. LOL. Or feel exactly the same I should say as I think when you get to that stage that you are beyond thinking rationally and just into eating mode. At least, when I was like that, that's what was happening for me. Good on you for just getting up today and going again. You're amazing.

Now, I've just eaten waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much watermelon and have a sore tum.

Yesterday I forgot that I also had 7 mandarines in the afternoon. So sweet and juicy!

Oh  no Jennie I would never think you are insensitive girl. I understand what you are saying I am sure there are more then me that have had thoughts like that. Its really hard as you would know your head says something but your heart knows what is best and says something completely different.

7 Manderines I so need to eat more I think. I would only eat 2 in a sitting.

Hi everyone have been off line since last week so haven’t been able to post but I’m still here and still raw.

RGG thanks for offering to help with the combos really want to get rid of this bloated belly. Before the challenge I wasn’t really watching how I food combined I usually had fruit and/or nuts and dried fruit in the morning, salads for lunch and another salad for dinner usually with seeds and nuts and lemon juice with almond or olive oil for the dressing and sometimes fruit after dinner, I know bad food combing. Oh yeah I was also drinking lots of cacao to help with my coffee craving which I made with almond milk and sweetener. For this 100 day challenge though I have cut out all nuts and dried fruit partly to help with my digestion and also because I was eating waaaay too many.

From last week my typical day has been:

Breakfast
- Usually 1-2 bananas (love bananas) and an apple if I’m still hungry or
- Green smoothie made with 1-2 bananas, pineapple, pear or berries and spinach or other green leafy veg like rocket.

Lunch
- Apple and banana or
- Big Salad - made with baby spinach and/or other green leafy veg, carrot, onion, cucumber, tomatoes, sometimes a bit of grated ginger, sprouts (usually broccoli or alfalfa), lemon juice for dressing without the oil or
- Green Smoothie same as above

Dinner
- Salad same as above or
- Fruit usually bananas again and an apple or pear or
- Green smoothie same as above

Snacks
Usually fruit and 2L of water have also been drinking some herbal teas

So that’s basically what I’ve been eating for the last week. My tummy is actually feeling a little better eating this way so we’ll see what happens.

<I havnt had one today either am going to have one soon. So do I start at Day 1 again or do I just keep going. I have no idea. Let me know what you think>

Pinky if it were me I would stick too it. Are you aiming for 100% raw? If not then why not see those days as non-raw days and aim for 100% the next day. If you are aiming for 100% remember that tomorrow isn’t going anywhere, just use the ‘slip up’ days as a learning curve and jump back on the wagon. I always find that the more I beat myself up for eating cooked the more I want to eat cooked so why not try forgiving yourself instead?

Lulu come join the more the merrier I say

Ok, I think I definitely overate today! I'm feeling a little worse for wear. About an hour after my watermelon feast I had 3 pears blended with a vanilla bean and three big handfuls of baby spinach. I added to that 3 chopped bananas and yummo! Now I'm having a small (for me) salad and looking at it and you know what? It's the last thing on earth I want to be doing eating this thing... but here it is. No one else will eat it and I loathe waste. I don't like salads the next day either... blerk. So I'm eating and regretting at the same time.

Blerk. Early night tonight.

Hey Pinky, I've just been going through the same stuff today.

The last few days I am observing with interest the discussions that go on inside my head between me, myself and I.

'Me' is saying that I'm an all or nothing type of gal...that I can't do the high raw with a little bit of cooked sorta thing.  Its like when I used to smoke and I wanted to be able to do just the social smoking thing but a full time habit kept creeping back.  So 'me' is saying go 100%, no ifs or buts...then its clear cut, black and white, no murky grey area that I can get caught in.

Then there is 'I' who is saying I want to be able to have a cooked meal on the odd occasion that we go out for tea.  Or eat a mouthful of a cooked meal that I have just made for my kids.  Because 'I' thinks that if I'm not cutting out cooked completely then I'm going to be content knowing that I'm able to have it when I'm feeling like it and I will continue my gentle journey to higher and higher raw %age in my diet and eventually when I am ready and without any force, I will find that I have become all raw through a gently unfolding journey.

Then there is 'myself' who just sits and observes 'me' and 'I' without judgement or bias and noticing how my choices unfold from my observations of how the foods that I am eating are making me feel.

So I am still on this 100 day raw food challenge and am on day 9 or 10 or 11 [or day 91 or 90 or 89 Jen Wink] or whichever day we are up to.  And I am trying to be more in tune with 'myself' and less involved with the banter of 'me' and 'I'.

Hugs,
Jacki

Hey girls, Can I play too? Perhaps, I'll do 92 days as a late starter.
The psychology of raw is a funny thing. I've found it is best for me to not get hooked on how raw I am because like some of you, I let slip ups be the reason for big slides into cooked world and not just cooked stuff but really ick stuff like bread and sugar. For this reason my focus is on optimising my health and achieving my goals of wonderful fitness, peace and longevity-not being 100% raw. However, striving towards these goals means that I choose juicy fruits and mega, mega, greens, minimal fats.
Today I've had:
Breakfast of celery banana, sprouts, spirulina gs-eaten slowly from a bowl with a little chopped banana and sprouts. (I saw Angela Stokes speak at Funky raw festival in the UK on the weekend-she talked about the importance of eating slowly, chewing well, ensalivating all food well including gs and juice. Her tip was to eat gs from a bowl with a small spoon and to have chunks of stuff mixed in. This was related to strategies to combat overeating so that you are eating for at least twenty minutes to get a hunger signal. I usually scoff my gs in a pint glass in a couple of mins)
mono ripe figs
1.00pm- 1hr run
2.30pm- 2 pints of very green gs (Kale, sprouts, cucumber, celery, fig, orange, apple)
4.00pm 45min very fast walk
6.30 pm-marinated salad of shredded kale, wakame, golden courgette, mushroom, rocket, red pepper, carrot(marinade-orange juice, lemon juice, date, shallot, tomato dash of olive oil) VV yum! A great meal to share with cooked fooders because it was very much like a stirfry.
I'm off to Dublin tomorrow to see my fave band The Killers. I love them. I am like a teenager. Hoping to get in a lot of juice at Dublin juice bars.

Becky! What a pleasure to have you on board. I love the focused vibe you bring wherever you go. The Killers should be proud to have you in their audience. Did you see the Aussie triathalon woman get Gold at the Olympics? I was thinking of you as she won and wondering if you saw. It was amazing!

I ended up doing a spontaneous fast today. Nothing but water all day. I've not wanted food which is most unlike me. Started to feel better late morning and then crashed in the afternoon. Day 11... unless water is cooked, am still raw!

Now, to bed I go.

Gosh, what a lovely three page catch-up read I just had.  You're all such lovely souls and it really shows through your writing. Smiley

My 'challenge' has taken a turn, and morphed into something completely different to a 100 day challenge, yet it suits me.  I'm thinking of it as my 'habit building' challenge.  I'm starting with just one thing at a time, and sticking to each thing for one or two weeks, to 'set' it in habit, before adding a second, third, fourth thing.  The idea is that these good habits will accumulate and take over my life, pushing the bad ones out because they just wont have room to fit anymore! :D

Habit 1: drink a green smoothie every day.  Simple to do, seems too simple because it's enjoyable, but that's not a bad thing at all!

I start Habit 2 in a few days, and that will be to have fresh fruit for mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks at school.

Love to you all Smiley

I think thats a great plan Waterberry. Creating habits is an excellent way to gain control over eating patterns. Jen, I didn't see the triathlete but I saw lots of swimming and am keen to hit the pool!!! I did 20metres of butterfly a few weeks ago and it really did for me.
Currently I am stranded at Birmingham airport- 5 hrs raw in the airport. First of all I found a bag of gogi berries and almonds . Then a mixed fruit salad and green salad from the Spar. (dodgy convenience chain) Found a date at the bottom of my bag, then Ian discovered a place doing fresh orange juice. So I am suprised at my raw success. I just need to start jogging around the terminals for the next hour.

Jackson you described me to a T. Its all or nothing with me. If I fall off the wagon it takes me a few days to get back on which it has again this time. I cant have a bite of cooked food here or there cause then like I said in a early post my mind plays on it, 'you've failed again why not have more'. Which I dont beat myself up over it.... It just really upsets me that I find it so hard to stick to it. I know it will get easier with time and having this thread has made life so much easier for me for the begining of this challenge.

So we went to the all you can eat place on Tuesday night for mums birthday, Bella's birthday and it is Petes and my 10 years anniversary, and we have been so good on paying all the bills we thought why not. So I did have plenty of raw things but a few cooked as well. But i didnt have the desert bar Yippee for me..... That is normally the first thing I go for but no not this time. You could go to this restaurant very easily and stay raw but it all got the better of me and since I had the junk the night before I thought what the heck.

So then onto yesterday!!!!! Took the kids to story time at the library and you know who enjoyed it the most was Islie she 4 months old and she sat on my lap and listerned so intently. Bella was a little too occupied with other thing and Connor has just learnt to walk and walking on carpet is so much easier then walking on our tiles so he kept running away then stoping turning back and laughing at me then run some more. So yesterday was a early start cause it at 9:30 so of course I never got my gs (need to buy a flask where I can take it with me). So of course my cut apple and bananas went out the window and I had bad food again. Then of course with my way of thinking I had a cooked dinner.

So I am back on track today sitting here drinking my gs and am aiming for a fantastic day which I know it will be.

I will be going to that restaurant again on Saturday night for dinner again and will eat mainly raw maybe a few things that arnt. But will have as much raw as I can.

Oh the dramas of me and eating.

Welcome aboard Becky I have missed seeing you (my fault havnt been on here for a while) Love what you said Angela Stokes said and I can understand why it would be true might give it a go tomorrow.

Jeannie good on you for doing a fast I know I should do one once a week. Its strange how our body starts to tell us what it wants and us not telling it (does that make sense?Huh?)

Waterberry I love your way of doing the challenge..... I think we all need to adapt things like this to the way we want to do it.

Vegiedelight I dont know if I will ever be 100% raw, things like Tamari etc etc etc arnt raw for me.... Like I said in the begining of this post I cant not be as high as I am I cant have 1 bite of cooked food cause that just turns it all into a cooked rollercoaster for me.

Love to you all and I hope we all have a fantastic raw day

Great going Becky! You are amazing. I can see you and Free having the best time together. I hope she is still around when you get here.

pinky it sounds like you are really comfortable with where you are at right now. I'd love to give you a big hug. you are a superstar! I love that you can just pick up again where you left off the next day. That's the most fabulous thing ever!

Waterberry, I love your out of the box approach. your mind fascinates me.

I'm still raw! today was mostly a juicing day. Celery, lemon, coriander, pear and cucumber. Vay nice luv!

I've just had blended bananas with dates and vanilla over chopped narnas. Not feeling the best after that so perhaps too much? I dunno.

Better today than yesterday though. Yippee! I'm almost back to awesome.
