Hi everyone!

Being VERY new to raw, I have already fallen victim to a bad combination of foods.
I wonder how many of you have whipped up a worrying combo, have learned from it, and are willing to pass on your wisdom..
My mistake was eating too many sprouted beans/pulses in one sitting - part of it could possibly be attributed to putting anything i could get my hands on into a big delicious smoothie...
What was your crazy combo? I'd love to hear from you!
Love,
Carmel

This isnt exactly a combo, but defo a bad choice. I made an indian style salad using fresh tumeric, i though being fresh would be better, maybe i just used too much but it made me feel so sick i didnt sleep all night because of it.

Any salad with too much raw brocolli or cauliflower. I keep these as side salads now, not mains.

Made a dish of a few different dips with vege sticks. One dip was cashew based, another avocado, another sprouted chick pea hommus. Made me feel a bit off, made hubby feel really sick. I think it was mostly the hommus, but the combo of dips, bad idea, one only now. I actually find zucchini hommus nicer, better choice.

Any sprout based salad doesnt digest well and makes hubby feel really off. Great as side salads, not as a main.

Paw paw in a smoothie, doesnt make me feel sick, just tastes absolutely gross, weird i like pawpaw but i no longer blend it.

Avocado in a smoothie, really makes me feel awful, blended salads strictly no avo.

Peaches in a smoothie, ick! Could have just been that they werent that nice of peaches, but really didnt work, may have worked with other fruits but just peaches made me feel sick.

Blended apple, unsure why, i love apples, grated are great, but for some reason when i blend them gives me an upset tummy.

Nice to hear from you again Kebbser! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Since my digestive disasters last week I feel I have become much more in tune with my body and what it wants. I will take on what you have learned when getting excited about my next smoothie.
Now for a combo that I found REALLY sits well with me (and hubby too I might add - wow!)
Carrot, apple and cucumber juice. Tasted a bit bitter but not too bad(was going to add mint but forgot), but wow, I have never experienced such an instant soaring high like that before. It's those feelings that help you to remember that you are clearly on the right path.
Hey Freelea, wonderful to hear from you, funny how these things that sound like they would do no harm can actually upset the balance huh? The avo, date and banana sounds great, but I think I will just leave that one alone.....  laugh

A typical lunch I would make when I first transitioned to raw would include:

peas, snowpeas, carrots, beetroot, pumpkin, sweet potato, parsley, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, string beans, onion, garlic, sweet corn, chickpeas, lentils, zucchini, capsicum, cucumber, tomato, sprouts, lemon, dried apricot, sultana, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, mature coconut meat, avocado, olive, olive oil, coconut oil, agave nectar, salt & spices.

A typical dinner would be:

dates, sultanas, muscats, mature coconut meat, macadamia butter, cacao powder, agave nectar, coconut oil.

These days I enjoy eating almost exclusively mono meals.

I digest most things pretty well without too much trouble no matter what they may be but I do remember when I blended mature coconut meat and strained it through a nut milk bag, then added either watermelon juice or watermelon to it and blended. The taste was phenomenal but half an hour later I couldn't move too far from a toilet! What a great laxative... tee hee.
