I confess, I want the TRUTH! To Raw or Not to Raw? That is the question...

'Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them'
- William Shakespeare (I just love it!)

I'm committed to finding the answer to this question.

I'm a bit of a geek that is dedicated to exploring Human Potential through Raw Food Nutrition and Physical Fitness. I have undertaken a supervised 4 month 100% Raw Food Challenge to collect clinical data on the effects raw food has on my emotional, mental and physical health. I have two local Naturopaths doing weekly and monthly testing using live blood analysis and recording what they find as I venture further into the 100% Raw Zone! The results will be published in December with photographs and clinical diagnosis.

I've started a blog and a channel on YouTube (RawDownUnder) to have a video diary of the next 4 months for research purposes. Second, is to share very honestly how I'm managing to stay committed to my goal (fluctuations in energy levels and motivation included) along with recipes and inspiration for all my friends and family Smiley

Anyone who is also rawing it and wanting any advice or can offer me some tips and tricks (how do I stop craving cheese???) I'd love to hear from you Smiley))

Welcome Therese de Wolf  rose

I look forward to seeing the results, its a great idea, i never even thought about doing anything like that when i started.

Might take a while for cravings to go, especially favs like cheese. You can make some nut cheeses as a replacement to tie you over. I cant remember the exact recipe, but there are probs some on here for cashew cheese, i think its cashews, lemon juice, spices maybe?

Alternately, checkout goneraw.
www.goneraw.com

Theres heaps of recipes on it, am sure you can find a substitute on it. Just make sure you have really raw cashews since your doing 100%, and if its being tested you probs dont want to have any dead foods like shop bought cashews. You can buy really raw cashews on here, ive never tried them but are meant to be good.

Otherwise if you make a raw pasta, or just want the parmasan thing, i use pinenuts and grind them up with a parmesan cheese grater over food, is a good substitute.

Welcome Therese, and the very best of luck with your 4 month challenge.

It is my humble opinion that there is no "the TRUTH" when it comes to diet.... but that we each find our own truth in that regard.  And that  individual truth may change from time to time as lessons are learned, adjustments made and our bodies send clear signals for us to act upon.

Best wishes for forging your own path and discovering your truth with regard to raw food.

Enjoy the ride!

Hi Therese
how exciting! I am totally new to this raw experience, have just kitted myself out with a vitamix blender(fantastic  best ever gadget I bought), food dehydrator, spiralizer and mandoline sclicer. I am just about ready to start, September 1st is D-day for a personal spring clean for me.
You have just given me an idea. I work in a primary healthcare centre as a social worker, and I could ask our nutritionist/dietician (who is quite open-minded) to supervise my raw food transformation. A little bit of evidence-based success can go a long way!
Thanks Therese for sharing your information, I wish you all the best and I will check your experiment's progress out on youtube.
