Keen to get a new big group challenge happening as its so much fun.
My challenge is to power up to wonderful levels of fitness. I feel fitness and movement of the body is integral to a raw lifestyle. I already have a very good level of aerobic fitness and endurance , doing almost daily runs of around 7-8ks. My challenge is to increase cross-training, incorporating cycling and swimming with a view to entering a triathlon within a year. I also want to increase core strength and flexibility.

Who is keen to join me on this?
You can establish any fitness goals.
My hope is this thread can give motivation and support for everyone's fitness goals.
Today I've clocked up 15000 steps on pedometer, done around 10 mins of spinning on exercise bike and many sets through the day of different abs strengtheners.

Here's a little something that might get you motivated!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2C-Jm9yzsQ

Amazing.

Also, something that I learned while watching the Olympics. There was a female American swimmer aged 41 who was getting silver medals in swimming. The commentators were saying that at her training she spent more time stretching while in the pool .

Interesting!

Yaay! Glad to see some keen beans. So far this morning five minutes spinning on the bike.
I have three kids to look after so my time for fitness is theoretically limited..But...I have one hour every day that is mine to go running, go the gym whatever. I then increase further activity by being very active, wearing the pedometer really helps to keep me aware of my activity levels-I always move with purpose, running up and downstairs, playing cricket with children, dancing with children, skipping with my daughter.
Then I will do little five minute sets when I have a quite moment, squats, abs stuff, other strength stuff.
I think its possible to have a hard core fitness routine while being a mum but I would love an extra hour each day to do another serious workout. I would love to do an hour of Astanga yoga each day as my flexibility is my weak point and Astanga is wonderful for core strength, endurance and flexibility.
OK will keep posted on what I manage for the day.

Okay, Yesterday have done 17000 steps and 10 mins of cycling on exercise bike. 3 sets of abdominal strengthening. My steps included a 40 min run, 1 hour moderate walk, dancing in the rain, stair running for 10 mins and skipping. Feeling good, muscles a little achey. Saturday will be my rest day so am going to power through the week. Does anyone have some simple strength exercises to share. I am doing squats, push ups, planks but am a bit clueless in this area.
How did everyone else go?

Wow thats a great workout Beckstar :-) Dancing in the rain...ah the best isn't it? I was almost sleeping in the rain last night as our tent got poured on!

This morning i did

3.5km warm up jog round ze block
Resistance...
Bout 30secs rest inbetween, I just aim to wo

-2 sets x 10reps alternating shoulder presses x 11kg d'bells
-2   "   x cartwheels (10 reps)
-2   "   x bench pushups (15reps)
-2   "   x seated chest press 40kg
-2   " x 11kg D'bell bicep curls
-1  set x tricep dips
-1 set x one legged deadlifts
-2 sets x handstand holds 45secs

Just did a quick 15min cardio workout with Aerobics Oz Style!Lol! It was fun.

Yesterday did a 6km run in 37deg heat! Woah a great old salt-sweat out session, tasted it on my lips.
Its great to watch the fluid that was once retained leave my body through a great lymphatic pump!

Simple strength exercises....

-Cartwheels
-Cardio - starjumps
-handstand holds
-frog jumps
-jump lunges
-tug of war with a towel(great for back)
-shovelling
-vacuuming/raking
-lifting a heavy package from ground to a high shelf and back (repeat)
-climb a tree up & down a couple of times
-(for the mums out there) baby-lifting exercises, chest press with baby while lying on floor face up

Just have to use your imagination...make it fun & be conscious of your knees with jumping exercises.

Oh Free-Thanks for the ideas, they sound great for a good jump around the park with children.
Yesterday, I did 12 000steps, 20 mins of cycling, 2x 20 push ups, 2x30 abs thingies, 50 squats, 20 squat lunges on each leg. I'm having lots of fun getting the steps up. Yesterday, I was doing ballet to classical music while on hold on the phone to Centrelink. I also did a bit of disco in the Ikea carpark with my boy to the piped music. Its turned some potentially boring, frustrating scenarios into little sparkles in my day.
I got up early today and started with 20 mins of hill running and am about to set off for my proper run. I'm excited about what movement possibilities the day may bring.

i thought i'd post my exercise for the day. i've done yoga the last four days or so but today i looked at that fruitarian fitness on you tube and did one of his work outs and then followed by about fifteen minutes of running. boy am i unfit. i might start doing some long walks before i start trying to run too much but i did do alot of walking around japan which was good.

Great Tora Chan-glad you are joining us. Try putting little 1 min running intervals into your walk-say a 30 min walk where every two minutes, you run for 1 min.

And hooray hooray, I've lured RGG to show us how she shakes her booty.
So far today I'm up to 13 000 steps, have been to the park playing frisbee, trying out the frog jumps-whew serious hard work there.

this might be of interst to somebody.

I read article about some corporations in states offering treadmills to workers on the job.
There is now specific treadmill model with very quiet motor, which runs only slow, I think max 5 km/h and is designed for the office.

It does have in front kinda like small desk - holder of keybord and PC monitor, mouse, phone etc, and allows the wotrker to nslowly walk for hours and do the job as usual. Workers have the choice to have this installed in their offices or cubicles.
It was found, that those moving, walking on the job are more focused, more accurate etc. Also in each meating rom there are few threadmills, so there is a choice of walking during meeting or vsitting in the chair, again those walking actualy dio pay attention to the meeting as oposed to the sleeping ones in chairs.

Following this idea : I had in my house cheap stationary bike ($40 Kmart), which was suposed to be used while TV). So I moved it in front of computer and often while reading articles etc I just slowly spin my legs on it.

I can easily get 1 hour or more odf this for no extra time required during the day.

Inspired, when I pull the bike away, I keep standing, doing partial squads or standing and balancing on 1 leg, while I type, as it is now.

good luck with the challenge, I would join if I was raw, do not wanna feel as fraud.
