I usually eat mangoes by cutting the cheeks off and scoring the flesh. However sometime when I am out I like to eat a mango.

Raw Guru, Sapoty Brooke suggested this method and it works..

Take a mango and hols it with th point upward ( stem end down) Score around the middle at the halfway point and then score the top from point to middle about 4 times to halfway mark and pull the peel off.

This gives you the intact bottom half to hold on to while eating the top portion. Once you have eaten the exposed part, turn the mango over and hold onto the pip and repeat the above process.

This makes a mango so much easier to eat. I expect Harley just dives in and eats skin and all. rolleyes

Hows that? As clear as mud I guess.

well I know what I am trying to say.

Harley opens them much like you describe, however instead of scoring with a knife he just tears it in half with this hands and sinks his face into the flesh. I've watched him eat 5+ fior a meal leaning over our balcony and devouring the mango flesh in a joyous feast of delight... quite the spectacle to watch!

I love mangos!

That sounds absolutely awesome. I'm gonna try that next time I have a mango.

Harley's feast sounds pretty much like how I eat mangoes, except I only have them one at a time.haha wish it were more though.

Jen they are the local crop coming from Gin Gin and Bindoon. Because Perth is cooler than the Pilbara and the Kimberley Regions, we have a later fruiting season.

I saw the place names on the boxes at the markets a couple of weeks ago. Mangoes grow well in our climate here. I think they are mainly Kensington Prides. A friend gave me a lovely organic mango 2 weeks ago. It was from one of her friends tree.

In Broome our mango season is just about over for Kensingtons but there are still plenty of other varieties which will see us through the next month.

Mangoes abound up here and my freezer is full and I am looking for more space.

We use a champion juicer to make mango icecream throughout the off-season - yum!

Good Health,
Neo.
