It's been above 30 degrees here each day, and so humid. I feel a little like I'm melting after returning from the snow in Canada.

Here are a couple of drinks I've been making to help me feel cool! They work! I know that physiologically cold drinks don't cool me off, but they make me happy so all is good!

I blend a mix of fresh fruit and orange juice, with load of ice in my Vitamix (high speed blender) until it resembles the 'slurpies' you see sold in some convenience stores. It makes a great party drink too! Looks like frozen marguaritas!

Some favourites:
* Mango, banana and orange juice + ice
* Lemon juice, orange juice and sweetener (agave, honey) + ice

Basically any combination you can imagine probably works. It goes well as sorbet when frozen too!

Cheers,
Sheryl

Being summer again this topic deserves a bump Smiley

I've been taking a leaf out of RawGreenGoddesses book and having blended rockmelon/cantaloupe, with ice to make it into that slushie consistancy that's so nice and refreshing in this sweaty heat.

Then I remembered Raw Sensation's idea of watermelon with cooling mint leaves.  Delicious blended into an icy-drink too.

Thanks Jen and Neet!

Mmmm. That sounds nice Pink one!

Waterberry I have been making this one again and again. I bought a 12kg watermelon, seeded it and I've been putting frozen chunks of it in the vitamix and whizzing with half of a fresh lime.... oooooh so nice!

You should appreciate that heat guys!  Here in Blighty, its cold, raining and windy so I would swap you!  Mind you we have a roaring coal fire going so that is nice and cheery. laugh

I can't stand really icy drinks even when it's really hot - I prefer them cool or room temp.  Too cold and it feels like it chills my stomach.

I made some lovely watermelon smoothies last summer though, sometimes adding a strawberring or so and other times adding some grapes.  ohyeah
