Here's something I just heard from David Wolfe....

To get the vitamin C from one wild orange you would have to eat....

10 organic oranges
or
20 conventional oranges.

Crazy eh?

Organic food may sometimes eat more expensive, however when you look at both nutrient levels and the fact that you're avoiding lots of chemicals it's so very very worth it.

Piers and I have just decided to take that extra level with organics and go 100%. We're cleaning out our cubboards today and getting rid of all the non organic food, and also the spices we don't really use anymore (all of them). It feels very liberating. When we looked we realized we basically don't use spices anymore... with only a very few exceptions. I'm loving the idea of all the extra space. WOW!!

Happy organics,
Sheryl

I love a good cupboard cleanout!  Whether it is a clothes cupboard or a kitchen cupboard..  it feels so refreshing.

I was having lunch with a friend today and as I was peeling my orange I was also peeling off most of the white stuff just under the skin.  My friend said that the white stuff helps us to absorb the vitamin C in the orange.  Just wondering if anyone else knows anything about this or what's in the white stuff.

stevetabe -

The pith from oranges and citrus is very high in a group of phytochemicals called bioflavonoids.

These work synergistically in nature with vitamin c, and are always found together.

Basically, they help absorb and utilize each other, and also potentiate the action of each other.

yes the white part of skin is very important, and I alsway eat it from ornages but mainly from grapefruits, wher is the the tickest.

I wish I could clean out the cupboards and fridge, but there are still carnivores and cooked and junk eating people in my house, so much various processed crap everywhere, many types of cheese etc, sometimes I do not feel like opening the fridge at all
