Womadelaide is every year, in March, over one weekend.  world music performances from all over the world, great festival atmosphere, plus dance & art installations. My partner performs there each year so we're usually there.

by far, one of the best things about going raw (and staying, thanks! cheesy) is the end to my nasally issues! i've always had some sort of stuffiness in the shnoz at all times of the year and have blown it 'til it bleeds (sorry for the visuals...), coated it inside with little lubricants and snorted water trying to get more air (i loathe breathing through my mouth- makes me dry out in a flash...) i can breathe through the night freely, never during my life has there been a time when i could say that...
another- is the mentality that takes over me. i can see myself in a mirror and not cringe because i know that what i'm doing for myself is best for me, and that makes me feel more attractive- inside and out. smiley

Awesome thread!

I guess my favorite things are the weight loss (as I was well over 100 lbs. or over 7 stone overweight to begin with) -- have sustained a 50-lb. (over 3 stone) weight loss thus far; and the other thing is the ENERGY...!  Really I feel so ALIVE on raw...!!! And if I might mention a third thing which is just as important to me -- is I frequently now feel a sense of freedom from food cravings, which is a happiness all unto itself!  (smile)

Wow Michele! That's a fantastic achievement! And I think you should add, judging by your photo, you have such a wonderful healthy glow emanating from you!

Posts such as yours are an inspiration to newbies like me. I don't have weight to lose, but have health issues to overcome.

Been raw only 2 weeks, and the symptoms of IBS/colitis that have been with me for over 10 years disappeared a few days after making the change. I ate one heavy cooked meal last week, felt like I'd been poisoned all that night (even felt like my eyes were going to burst out of my head!?!), felt appalling the next day (had to leave work sick) and the IBS/colitis symptoms came right back. That nasty experience was enough to keep me going on raw even tonight on a cold night when I felt uninspired towards raw food.

Thank you for the kind words, Miss Manda. Wink

Your own story is inspiring too! I should have made a list of all the discomforts I had before going raw. Now that they are gone I never think of them, making it harder to remember them (especially since I've been basically allergic to doctors for decades and never went in for getting my discomforts labeled by the medical establishment). I used to sleep 2-4 hours MORE than now every night; even so, I had terrible bouts with insomnia; overall depression; pains in my legs and feet (though I still am exorcising some of the foot pains which recur now and again when I slip off raw a bit too much).

Really, since seeing David Wolfe again this past weekend I feel like a switch has gone off inside of me and I expect to be staying strong on the raw path from here on in -- and not because of fear of the discomforts and obesity if I eat the "bad stuff" but because I don't want to come down from the raw-energy "high" that I have been feeling for days and that I always feel when I stay 95-100% raw. It is all about Hope and Enthusiasm and Love and Light and really Inspiring and Thrilling to get to feel this way all the time, and I know from "experimenting" on going back to eat yet another cooked food or meal time and again, that eating cooked, junk and processed foods except in TINY quantities always bring me DOWN...!

I guess I'm just an Eternal Hippie, but drug-free. And I don't want to come down...!!  Wink  Wink  Wink

A Fire Agate crystal kept in your vacinity will help alleviate your cravings for just about anything.

If you start craving something, just hold the stone in your hand for awhile.

Sounds silly? Just try it (well you did say you were a hippy)
