gosh i'm just loving you guys...

your new avatar is adorable sheryl..cheeky you peeking through the boxes, would've lerved to have joined the fun of each new and wondrous discovery as you unpacked today...
i will just look forward to unpacking my own parcels when they come, laden with luscious lovliness..

oh miss g's you are such a giggle as you said, you are the personal marketing campaign,,rok on girl... ^_^i think i will look into a fancier prettier thermos too, mines very sedate(unlike me filled with the glory of greens LOL)black and grey, but i guess it's the inside that's most important, vibrant green..

sheryl i am so dreaming of a vitamix,i've put it out there,so it means i will be getting one soon..that's how things generally work for me...ahhh,life is but a peach.errr green smoothie..

from now on a will be calling them gs...they are so highly spoken of and known they don't need the full title..

i am too, looking forward to dashing some mint into mine tomorrow...both your recipes sounded awesome sheryl and miss g's...hey,we could abbreviate your name to miss green smoothies...haardy har har...

it's so funny how, when you just know something is so incredible and you feel amazing,ya just wanna spread the joy...and look at people in an odd fashion when they say (gasp) NO....but never accept the first no of the day...it's convincing them they want it-better still need it...heres the sales person talking... rolleyes

hubby is loving them,so proud of him for embracing the gs so wonderfully...he has a big cup in the morning and one at night..yay for him...i chug down around 2 litres of the liquid green myself...can't help it...too good...but then i am talking to the converted here aren't it.

tell we post again my friends...cheers salute, chin chin...bottoms up with the gs.......
and that's no bs...............oh funnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...............

miss g's-you make me laugh out loud again...thank you...

now i know why my houseplants are bending awaaaaay from me as i walk past....LOL

was eyeballing the beet and carrot tops the other day, never realised how mangey and spoilt they can be in the shops...oh for the perfectly upright and fresh beet and carrot top....will go prowling again tomorrow..

just had my last gluggedy glug of gs for the evening...was eyeing off the last cup full in the jug...better leave that for hubby when he gets home...

then i shall whip up another,so he has a big glass for the morning, then i have a humungous glass pre workout,,then i make another 1.5 litres for after workout, lunch ect ect..

i will use pineapple
mango
boychoy
celery tops
waterrrrrr

a work collegue is giving me a big bag of peaches on sat(off her tree)so excited i then will be whipping up peach gs,so will be looking back over your recipe suggestions sheryl and miss g's..

so funny went in to replenish the greens and bananas today, and the girl in there was seriously looking at me sideways, back again so soon...hmmmm...she knows i eat raw,and doesn't believe in it...she walks away each time i mention it..other day bought a big bag of gorgeous succulent tomatos, and of course was sniffing them and raving about them...she said you know,no one should eat tomatos????i said oh!
yes, when they were introduced to india many years ago, everyone got sick,i said did they cook them? yes, well i said maybe they should've eaten them raw...and how did they combine them....did they even realise they are a fruit...off she went again, hurrying out the back......funny really... i love raw-and it's great spreading the word...he heeh...

nighty night fellow lervers of gs's...and others reading...ciao xx

good morning gs lervers kiss

a new and wondrous day...have discovered a wicked yummy gs today...

4 frozen bananas
2 big handfuls of celery tops
3 good chunks of fresh aloe
big handful of (freshly picked from my garden) chocolate mint
750mls of pure fresh water
in a 1250ml jug

blend until smooth and lush...and prepare to be transported to gs heaven(not that we have ever left...) but this is a goodie i can tell you...i am submitted this little baby...

hubby said that he was thinking clearer this morning...not bad after only his second day of green smoothies...ahhhhh feeling awesome about that...he's having big cup in morning big cup at night....
i excitedly rang him to spread the news of my latest gs discovery...i will need to whip up another batch for later, cos i'm afraid twill be all gone by time he gets home..

am on the hunt for a 2 litre or 1.5 litre thermos today,to carry round my gs on my travels....my 1 litre is filled with gs and ready for adventures today...just throw in a couple of plastic cups and i'm set...

better ration out the aloe, cos the plants not growing fast enough...maybe it needs a dose of gs(hooo hooo ho.)i do ask her nicely if she minds me gently breaking off a stem, but she says it's cool,it's going to a great cause............

again.....i am in hysterics rolling around the floor....how's the prickly pineapple skin darls???hee hee heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

phew,11 smackers,savour it sloooooooooooooooowly...i bet its sweet and juicy..mmmmm i adore pineapple..

and you know i really love my parsley mixes too..me thinks that perhaps your blender is more the culprit than the produce itself....ahhh when we get the vitamix (soon of course,) it will be smooooth like silk,no chunks or chewy anything...

my pineapple and parsley ones are pretty smooth....

you know i think the frozen banana does make a difference, seems creamier or something, definitely refreshingly cold....

the chocolate mint, has got a slight hint of chocky mint...very very refreshing in the gs..highly recommend a try..

you know i am so proud of hubby, with his gs...he's saying how much easier it is to go to the toilet ect...and tonight he had my raw pasta(and he threw in a few cooked pasta spirals-cold)but hey what progress,i am very happy...

keep at em girl, you'll wear them down with your excitement and glowing health, one will step forward for a sniff then a slurp...try em on the bananas, mango and baby spinach one, that's an easy starter, pretty smooth taste, not too 'green' for first timers...

you will giggle- i bought a big hulking 2.4 litre thermos today,so happy..but it's kinda massive-whatta laugh...will be slinging that over my back as i head off tomorrow to work-then i have a wedding makeup to do afterwards,so it'll be bottoms up with the gs,and i'll be buzzing around like a little bee..

will be having another glass now...then whip up a freshy...hubby's heading off to work tomorrow at 2AM..so he'll need all the green help he can get...

enjoy the little pots o gold in thum that hills............

I have just finished reading this entire, VERY long thread! I am so glad I found it!  cheesy I have been thinking lately that I would love to get more greens into me, so this was exactly what I needed to read. Green smoothies do sound so much more exciting than green juices, I must admit... and I love the idea of making up a huge batch to last the whole day.

RawNeet (RawGREEN Neet, I should say), do you try to drink the smoothies on an empty stomach? Or just keep sipping throughout the day whenever you think of it? Just wondering...

So interested to hear of the great results you've been having. I think I'm a bit anaemic, especially around that time of month (and have been so since I went vegan two years ago.) Do you think the fabulous gs will help here? All that iron...? I do want to read that book Green for Life, sounds like a good one to get me started down this path.

I have only just bought myself a brand new Sunbeam Cafe Series blender. It is sitting on the kitchen bench in its box as I type. It looks to be the next best thing to a VitaMix - high speed (22,000 RPM) with a 1000 watt motor that has a 5-yr guarantee. So I think in honour of this thread, I might just christen it with a green smoothie... smiley I have two big bunches of silverbeet, some organic spinach (there is never enough at the shop!), some parsley, assorted fruit such as bananas, peaches, mango. I'm sure I'll be able to throw together a nice combo from that lot.

Has anyone else tried using silverbeet? I haven't seen any mentions yet.

I love the idea of using things like bok choy, rocket, or celery tops. When I think greens I think spinach or silverbeet. It was so refreshing to read of all the different types of greens that people are using to add variety to the diet.

Great reading... thanks for all the info, ideas and laughs... smiley

Hi everyone

No-one has mentioned using coconut water in the good ole 'gs' to replace, or even add to, the water/fruit juice. And the addition of some or all of the meat brings it up.
My kids (and there's 7 of them) all love a pina colada with 2 frozen bananas, 1/4 pineapple (also frozen), meat and water of 1 delicious young coconut. Blend with  the greens you want. this is one great way to get my kids to LOVE gs'. And I don't blame them either, it's delicious. I don't have these too often coz of the fat content so it makes it even more bliss to 'hang out' for one.

Greens and coconut water is the best blood transfusion ever!

I must just say that I love these forums, so much love , respect, kindness, advise, it's great!

I love the asian green choi sum and use it in my raw smoothies instead of spinach with banana and nectarine/orange/grapes/peaches.  My favourite at the moment is 4 bananas, 4 oranges and half a bunch of choi sum with some lettuce leaves and water.  I think the oranges make it very refreshing.  I have tried mango in green smoothies but I love them too much to eat or drink them with anything else.

I discovered  choi sum at the market a couple of years ago and just last year found that they stock it at my local supermarket.  It's a bit more fragile than some other greens and goes limp quickly.  I just hate it when the supermarket stockist don't spray their greens and they go limp.  rolleyes What a waste!!

Raw Green Neet I have visions of you a svelt goddess wading through a delicious sea of sweet green, refreshed and blissfully smiling.  cheesy  GO GREEN SMOOTHIES!  Mmmmmmmmmmm

helloooo all my friends on this thread..

GG i do drink my greens on an empty stomach, then drink it throughout the day as i need sustanence...rock on the scuba tank...hee heh..

rabbit -wow!! 7 babies,i am in awe...incredible..my hat goes off to you... :wub:mmm coconut water sounds quite divine...instant blood transfusion i like the sound of that....
greens i feel will help any ailment really...should be really helpful for the anaemia...
VICTORIA writes
"regular consumption of gs greatly benefits the health of people through improving the level of hydrochloric acid. Therefore the consumers of gs should expect.
-better absorption of valuable nutrients
-to lessen the possiblity of infection and parasites
-to heal allergies
-to improve overall health

better absorption is in itself a great advantage.for example, better absorption of calcium may decrease the chances of osteoporosis, better absorption of iron may help to heal anemia, better absorption of B vitamins may protect against herve disorders and so on."

i am actually going through some kind of detoxing with consumption of gs-white coated tongue, some headaches, reduced appetite, some body odour, some pressure in my stomach...but i am blissfully wading through it...i can see the green light at the end of the tunnel...all will be well,it's expected really with the terrible ill health i use to experience, and digestive disorders,..i see it as lifting the levels of my stomach acid...which judging by my symptoms for as long as i can recall...has been very low..

MG i have tried the silver beet,it makes for a much stronger tasting gs,i personally prefer the baby spinach..as even the regular spinach is quite overpowering...
hey the chickory could be quite good-cos the aloe is frightfully bitter on it's own,and in gs it is fine...give it a whirl my girl....

Nik i am blissfully wading through a see of green, that tank is firmly strapped on my back...detox or not,i am powering on in green....

loving -nay,adoring this thread...feel so blessed to know so many wonderful beautiful likeminded people...thanks to you alll kiss

Since I started drinking green smoothies about 3 weeks ago I'm definitely craving greens.  Bonus!!! cool  Eating lots more greens as a snack by themselves and in salads.

Is it my imagination or is my skin and psoriasis improving with my high consumption of greens?

Banana basil is surprisingly delicious.. we made that at the class yesterday. Peach parsley wasn't as good, the peach was overwhelmed by strong parsley. And pineapple mint - Mmmmmmm....

update-hello all fellow gs lervers... kiss

just wanted to let you all know, that this afternoon i have turned a wonderful bright corner, with my detoxing-since commencing gs...there must've been something frightfully nasty to move out've my bod..

i felt very flat and extremely tired all morning....headached,dragged myself around...did my usual dry brushing, then went for a walk in the sun, then sunbathed...all the lovely nice things...

made myself watermelon, lime and 2 good size chunks of aloe plant-gs...

within 10 mins i was exhausted and broke out in a hot sweat, dragged myself upstairs to lay on the bed...lay down for about 15 minutes...and it was as thougha cloud had lifted...i started to feel better...the bitter aloe must been the final straw for the detoxifying...whatever happened i am so grateful that now i am starting to feel better and clearer, and able to eat food without the nasty pressure on my tummy and feeling like a crab...

wow!increasing consumption of greens is awesomely powerful indeed..anyone else experiencing detox symptoms...bearing in mind...i have been consuming alot of gs...up to 2.5 litres per day..??
would love to hear about others experiences...maybe you're all sensible and don't go full on into things as i do... rolleyes

Hi Janita - this might be off place... but has your reaction started only since you added the aloe? Maybe try without it a couple of days and see what happens. Good to experiment sometimes and see what happens in your body. I know aloe gel is very soothing to digestion, not sure about the outer green part. Anyone know? Jen?

Good night everyone... sleep well knowing the dehjydrator is packed with delicious treats here!
