I wouldn't say I'm an expert, but I can circular breath. My first instrument is actually trumpet (I studied it formally at the Qld Conservatorium), so I can play the dij almost by default. I don't own one anymore (whatever happened to my dij..hmmm), but when I was teaching, we had a dozen or so around the place and I used to play them for the kids. I do have a pair of conga drums (like giant bongos) and a couple of sets of claves (like clap sticks) which are all pretty good for a corroboree.

My whole life, I have wanted to have a jungle party where there would be a big bass drum, and someone would be hypnotically pounding a slow repetitive beat for the entire duration. Everyone would have a rostered time on the drum, so no single person would be there for more than 20 minutes or so... but they couldn't stop the beat when the drum changed hands. Of course there would be auxhillary percussion instruments, maybe even guitars, but they would be optional and the bass drum would have to be constant. I think that would be a hoot. Of ourse, there would also have to be a fire and people dancing around it.
