Hi everyone

I havent really kept an on line diary of my progression I have kept a kinda brief diary at home. I was wondering ( i know this is going to sound grozz) but has anybody else gone through or are going through a mucous discharge phase? huh

When I first started on raw I didnt have this now that I few months into it I have been getting quite abit of mucous comming out of my nose and throat, esp first thing in the mornings and esp when I walk or exercise. It started off with alot of nose mucous now its progressed to the back of the throat last week I thought there was something stuck down there like I hadnt chewed my salad well and a green got lodged there! cheesy This week its getting better. Although I cant help wondering how much toxic junk has come out of my body. rolleyes

I have got used to the mucous thing now as part of the "detox" that the body is going through and I can feel it comming to the end. I was thinking  to myself well if all that mucous that has come out and comming out was discharge from the fat cells around my hips and thighs its a good thing ! cheesy

None the less I want to speed things up maybe I might go on a grapefruite juice or water fast for a couple of days.

Does anybody know of any other "mucous melting" raw foods I can try? Or any raw foods that I should avoid during this type of mucous phase?

I also have been trying to do breathing at night next to the plants garden  and I always sleep with the window open .

Any tips suggestions would be welcomed.

My prior symptoms were slight pimples on the tops of my arms , I wracked on some of raw pleasures coconut oil and somebaked and presto all gone now!
By the way folks I have NEVER got a nicer tan this summer from the coconut oil! MY tan has also lasted this cocunut oil is yes liquid gold!!! When the colder months kick in I will defeinately use it as my night cream!

 kiss to you all

Alegne - Great Question.

The most mucous-dissolving foods include citrus, esp oranges, with fresh figs and olives.

Avoid bananas, nuts and seeds until your mucous clearing phase diminishes.

Good Luck, you are on the right track! Smiley

Fasting can definitely give the body a break and let it get on with the business of detoxing.
Yes I too still get mucous coming out of nose, throat and the other end too. Nuts can be a problem. However the body is constantly expelling toxins. Many come from our enviroment. Smoke, herbicides, carpets, furniture, toiletries and fuel vapors all add to the toxic load the body needs to get rid of.So don't worry, just give thanks that its on the way out of your body and rejoice instead.

Perth is not so crowded, but everyone goes outside and stands on the footpath to smoke. Sometimes I almost turn blue when I walk down the main drag in the CBD as I hold my breath when I get near a smoker.

Smoke is very toxic and I dont want any in my lungs thank you.

Uban terrosists, that what they are.

Hi All

I haven't writtern in my raw journel for a while a thought i had better.
I am just getting over my mucous over load and lost voice. At one stage I thought I will become a share owner in Aldis tissues cheesy. I treated my red raw nose with coconut oil very nice and worked wonders. I was also doing many throat gargles using just lemon juice and water that helped heaps. I also had a nose spary of celtic salt water solution which i sprayed in the old honker this did wonders too.
As for antibiotics plenty of raw garlic, chilli and curry as much as i could tolerate I was adding to my meals. I was listening to my body in terms of exercise if my body didnt feel like it i didnt push. I am now starting to get back into my heavier routine.

My voice is back to normal heavy mucous has subsided to very light mucous.
I am puzzled though with a few things. My nails are very strong and healthy although my hair comes out alot when i wash it and also when i scrunch it or brush it . Not sure why I use Mieseence and Alchemy range ( which is pretty healthy) has anybody had any hair problems? Maybe this is just a shedding stage I am going through  cheesy I must say I am a little concerned.

My weight loss is going great i want to another 8 kilos and i will be my highschool weight  smiley I can't wait for that and hopefully before summer hits I will be a size 10 all over top and bottom ( hopefully coz I am a pear)  smiley .

I can't say my energy levels are their all time high but I am hanging in there!
I was reading somewhere that cucumber and carrot juice are good for hair and also i think David wolfe recommends MSM product has anybody used it if yes tell me and I can purchase it from this site as am not too cluey on it.

Got to run now
Love and kisses to you all kiss

Hey Alegne,

Nice to hear from you again.  I'm so glad that you are feeling so much better, and that the natural therapies you have employed are working a treat.

Red raw noses are the pits!  Hallelujah for coconut oil.  Aloe Vera tissues are lovely when you have a long period of a runny nose.  They seem so much gentler on the poor ol' red raw nose.

If your energy levels are down, remember to rest.  As much as you need, whenever you need - it is a powerful healer for the body.  Sometimes it may mean not listening to your head, but rather your body or your heart.  I'm like a broken record when it comes to this I know, but it really is such a restorative measure that pays huge dividends.

I used to worry about how much hair I shed too, but then I thought well, how much is too much.  If I awoke with handfuls of hair on my pillow, I would be concerned.

Like you, I lose hair when I brush my hair or wash it.  But to me, this is naturally when the hair that is ready to be free  cheesy  is going to fall away from the head.  I have a ball of hair that I remove from the drain after washing my hair, and if I brush my hair, there is an amount to be removed from the brush.

I also think that it is more noticeable when you have long hair (which you seem to have in your pic).  My hair is long, and whenever I vacuum or sweep, all I seem to collect is my hair!  I think I probably shed the same amount when I had very short hair, it's just that it was not as noticeable.  Sometimes I wish I could lose more hair, it's so thick and long and heavy.  I almost give myself whiplash when I have wet hair wrapped in a towel.  cheesy

I've just ordered MSM, and it's coming shortly - I'll let you know how it goes.  I've done a lot of reading up on it, and it seems to have so many fantastic properties, including the hair & nail advantages.  Maybe google it to read some of the bits on it - there's lots of information out there.

I hope you are back to your spritely self in no time.

Awwww Thanks Miss Giggles for your reply ! kiss

Hey if i started to find lots of hair on my pillow i would freak out!! cheesy
Unlike you i have fine long curly wavey hair. Yes I too get rolls of hair in the basin and on the carpet.

Yes plzz let me know how the MSM goes isnt it sulpur or something? I have heard some people are allergic to sulphur...anyhow s i need to do some reading on it for sure!

What else i forgot to mention is that I have the NOT hungry syndrome which is telling me my body is going well. See sometimes evern on raw i eat out of habbit just because it is lunch time ever do this? The body verses the brain is so funny. Like i went shopping with my mum the other day and thw hole day we hadnt eaten and mum being ( non raw) was famished and I just wanted something rereshing like a veg juice i wasnt hangry mum thought I was crazy staying unfed all day.  cheesy
I had to try to explain to her that our bodies function differently but being a typical mum she was worried smiley.

Keep up the good work Miss G and I am think about getting a new do a layerde bob or something ...if i am game cheesy i hate hairdressers actaully i get scared of them.
 Got to scoot !
Take care

Panda started talking MSM and for the first time in decades her hair has grown longer, and she's fearing she may have to start shaving her legs again! It's definitely having an impact.

I've decided MSM in water with lime tastes like tonic water - I like it!

Cheers,

I have a theory on why raw foodists sometimes lose hair. One time in my past I remember being shown a very fine sample of merino fleece from a sheep that a friend was thinkng of purchasing. Now my friends had a farm and they bred superfine merino fleece. If you held the sample by the root end it was a wonderful example of fine wool. However my friends decided to turn it the other way and discovered a break in the fleece. When questioned the owners said that there had been a drought and the sheep had had a change in its diet, from grasses to dried foods and this caused the fleece to break.

Now I think that when we initially change over to raw foods, our hair too breaks off along the 'diet change' line. Its just a theory and not at all scientific.

T C Fry said  that hair is basically made from protiens and therefore it seems logical that if you are losing hair, then raise your protien intake through eating sprouts and greens.

I have noticed that since having raw smoothies my eyebrows are regrowing and are looking stronger. Post menopausal womens hair start thinning in certain area, like pubic and underarm hair. I have only noticed my eyebrows (I will check the other areas later).

However my hair remains thick and wavy and I never use chemicals on it. I am amazed at the way my grandchiildren change their colour every other week. I only wash my hair when I feel like it and use a natural shampoo/conditioner combo.

If you are noticing hair loss, maybe its a good thing?

i dont have any hair on my chest and i shave my legs as a cyclist for massage and keeping cooler, cleaner etc.

on raw my hair on my head grows extremely quick. have been shaving my legs for many years and cant notice any speed in growth there though.

my two brothers are also chest hairless but now are getting recceeding hairline.

they are age 31 and 39. im 29 soon. my brother hadnt seen me for  2 years till start of may. he came over from perth to say gday before my durian safari. among other things he noticed about my appearence , clear skin(my acne is gone, my brothers have massive scarring) is that my hair is far thicker than both bro's and that im dont have a receeding hair line.

so its good to be able to compare with family members.

i will get some photos up to show.

raw vegan delays aging.

now thats thesis material, if only there was a university in the world that was interested in studying anything worthwhile in regards to human health!!

instead of guzzling hotdogs and iced coffees between 'nutrition' lectures.
