About the Sizing Live Juicy sizes are quite small. In this photo I am wearing a size L cherry tank. My measurements are as follows:
I hope this helps you to choose your size. Cheers, Jennie Toxins in your t-shirts? Not ours! Feeling good about what we put in our body is important but how about what you put on your body? Most of us are familiar with organic farming practices as it relates to food. It seems practical not to put pesticides in our body but what about putting clothing on our body that was produced with these same toxic chemicals? Our skin is the largest organ of our body, so why not pay closer attention to what we put on it? Our new apparel line Live Juicy Eat Raw has been created with an awareness towards conscious consumerism. Being that Raw Pleasure promotes eating healthy raw organic foods, it was only natural this passion segued into her interest with creating apparel. Is your t-shirt exploiting people? Not ours! The organic cotton purchased to produce the Live Juicy Eat Raw apparel line is acquired through fair trade practice. What is Fair Trade? We all want an equal exchange of value for a hard day’s work. Farmers are no different, however it doesn't always work out that way. Live Juicy has decided to not only buy organic cotton but to also ensure the cotton bought grants farmers the proper salary they deserve. Through fair trade practices, farmers are guaranteed a minimum price for their cotton which is based on the actual costs of sustainable production. Every time you buy fair trade cotton you are ensuring farmers get a better deal and in turn a better life. You can almost feel the goodness oozing out of each and every one of these Live Juicy Eat Raw tanks. Put your money where your values are! Let's face it, whether we realize it or not, the money we pay for our clothing supports an entire industry. That's a lot of power. Consciously make the choice to shift industry standards, one purchase at a time. Feel good about wearing your clothing knowing that at every level you are making a positive change. Now you are living juicy! Read more juicy details on why to go organic with clothing: We believes in making positive changes in the world. To us, every choice is an opportunity to create goodness in this world. When it came to choosing a textile for this apparel line, organic cotton was an easy choice. Here’s why: organic and conventional cotton are grown very differently from one another albeit they both need water and soil. Organic growing methods use materials that have a low impact on the environment while conventional cotton is grown using toxic chemicals like pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides or defoliants. There is no arguing that organic crops are inadvertently exposed to persistent agricultural chemicals. They are carried in the air through rain and wind drift and have now become part of ground water due to their excessive use. The less money that goes into conventional growing methods the better! Making the choice to support organic cotton farming means that Alissa can feel good about sustaining a healthier growing method which is better for the lives of us all. Live Juicy’s organic cotton is velvety soft and gets softer with each washing. Organic cotton is more resilient than other fabrics making it a better value! Juicy detail: Cotton alone accounts for 16% of global insecticides; more than any other single crop in the world. Get off the pesticide treadmill! While in active use on farms and dye factories, toxic chemicals compromise the quality of our air, water, soil and subsequently our food and clothing supply. The pesticides used on cotton, whether in the U.S. or oversees, are some of the most hazardous available today. At least three of the petrochemicals heavily used in cotton production are in the so called “dirty dozen” of which 120 member countries of the United Nations Environment Program agreed to ban. These chemicals compromise the health and safety of farm and factory workers. Did you know more than 99% of the world's cotton is produced in the developing world? These farmers often work without protective gear and without laws to further protect them. Heavy use of chemical pesticides in these countries are responsible for killing and sickening many farm workers and farmers by causing debilitating illnesses for many years after exposure. During the lifecycle of a garment, some of the most instense exposure to harmful chemicals is the dyeing process. Chemical dyes are just as harmful to people and the environment. During the production process, the milled cotton is saturated with dyes. The final garment retains only a small percentage of dye used to color it, leaving excess waste. Wastewater runoff from farms and dye factories can cause death to wildlife in surrounding areas. After the garment is produced, dyes can still pose a health risk to consumers. Chemicals reside in the cotton after products have gone to market. Washing your laundry isn’t enough. The best detergents won’t remove the chemicals completely, leaving them to be absorbed through the skin. Dyes pose serious health consequences including reproduction problems and a weakened immune system which can lead to increased risk for infectious disease, cancer and even death. Juicy detail: It takes approximately ¼ pound of chemicals to make just one cotton t-shirt. Tell me more about the benefits of organic agriculture, you say? We are glad you asked. You’ve already learned organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides or defoliants. It is also grown from untreated and non-genetically modified seed; there isn’t a cotton gene that’s spliced with the gene of some other plant or animal (aka pure and simple goodness.) Weeds and pests are controlled naturally through use of traps, insect predators or non-persistent botanical pesticides (some are made with pure ingredients like chili, garlic and soap) which are broken down quickly by oxygen and sunlight. Methods like intercropping are used where a secondary crop is planted within the field to either provide nutrients to the soil and deter or detract harmful and beneficial insects alike. Often times these secondary plantings provide food for farmers or act as another source of income. Organic agriculture protects the health of farmers, people in nearby communities and all living creatures. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility by building and supporting biologically diverse agriculture. It also conserves resources by using significantly less water and electricity than conventional farming. Juicy detail: The certified organic label assures consumers of credibility of the final product and ensures famers are paid a premium for upholding the high standards it takes to gain certification. Independent certifying organizations verify that organic producers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production as it holds them to strict record of their methods. These organizations verify that farmers meet or exceed established organic standards. Be a conscious consumer! Eco-consumerism or ethical consumerism is the act of consciously purchasing truly environmentally friendly products. You now know cotton farming is one of the most devastating agricultural productions on our planet. The more we consciously choose to purchase environmentally friendly products the easier it will be to make them more culturally available and accessible to millions of others. Let's get this cottonball rolling and change the tide for the better! Grab on to something good! The Live Juicy Eat Raw shoulder bag is made from 100% recycled soda, water and food containers (aka Ecospun.) The entire bag is made from 100% recycled materials - even the handle! This super sturdy bag has triple stitched handles with the comfort of softness that you may be surprised can come from a plastic container. Use our eco-fashionable bag as your all in one grocery, beach, picnic, gym and everyday tote. Choose to reuse! Did you ever wonder what happened to your plastic containers after you put them in your recycling bin? Did you ever think they would have a second life as a super cool eco-fashionable shoulder bag? Supporting recycling efforts simply begins by placing plastics in the bin. Following through the lifecycle by purchasing recycled materials helps sustain recycling efforts everywhere. Have you ever wanted to make a difference? Here is your chance! By consciously purchasing a 100% recycled tote bag, you are shifting industry standards one purchase at a time. Juicy Detail: Did you know that in 2003, more than 14 million trees were felled to produce 10 billion paper grocery bags that were used by Americans? Approximately 40 billion grocery bags are used each year in the United States: 10 billion are paper and 30 billion are plastic. For every pound of 100% recycled Ecospun used, it keeps approximately ten bottles out of America's landfills. Living Juicy Living juicy is akin to feeling good about the choices we make in our everyday lives. Once we wake up to the realities around us, it is harder to pretend they don't exist. There comes a time when we can no longer feel good about taking advantage of low prices from the chain discount stores, knowing it is at the expense of exploiting people around the globe. If you throw a pebble into a body of water you can watch the rings ripple outward toward the edges. There is no doubting that when the pebble impacted the water there was a tangible effect. Everyone of us can make a real difference through everyday consumer choices. Our dollars are similar to votes. Take a look at the big picture. It may be helpful to ask ourselves, "When I make this purchase, what am I supporting?" Let your voice be heard through your purchases. We all make a difference in this world and we are all capable of making positive change. We can do it one purchase at a time. Feeling good about making a positive change is what living juicy is all about! ”You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi |
