"I absolutely love it. It has re-inspired me. It is beautifully written and I love the layout. I've been making crackers. I think I'm finally getting the hang of the dehydrator. I made cream cheese to go with it. I've tried several recipes. I love them. I finally decided to try angel hair pasta from zucchini. I was really apprehensive. "I received your book and DVD earlier three days ago, and immediately opened it up and put in the DVD. My mom, who is age 62, and overweight by quite a bit, was there. She loves to watch cooking shows and loves to entertain, ie. cook for others. I'm sure you are familiar with the false belief that food = love. Anyway, she watched the DVD with me and the following day, she announced that she was going to commit to going raw for 30 days. "I adopted a raw food diet one year ago for health reasons. While the improvement in my health was immediately apparent, I knew I would not be able to eat this way forever unless the food started tasting better and I had more variety. I simply could not look at another salad! I had bought many raw food cookbooks, and while some were beautifully photographed, the recipes were so long and complicated with a laundry list of ingredients that I simply did not have the time to make them. In the 10 books I had purchased in the last year I was lucky if I could get 1 or 2 recipes that were actual doable. Then I saw an ad for Alissa's book on the webpage advertising a raw food dinner. Something about it appealed to me but I was skeptical about buying yet another book that looked beautiful and being disappointed. "I woke up at 5:00 AM today and feel remarkably well and energized. This week has been a fascinating experience for my daughter, myself and our neighbors across the street from us. Since we've cleaned our cabinets out from February 2004 forward, we've been giving them all our cooked & processed items. You see they're still on the SAD! However, I've been talking with them both about our new Raw diet. This week, since I had it off from work, I started to tease them with some raw food from your recipes. Marjorie-lee & I started them with a teaser of the Torte. They both loved the recipe. As we talked more to our neighbors across the street, the wife, who is 81, wanted to know more about the Raw diet. So it has been fun educating her with the information. Yesterday she came over from Noon-3 PM. She helped us prepare the Tomato Soup. She even purchased the raw organic tomatoes for us. I had the garage door open & doing laundry about 10:30 AM when I spotted her returning car. She waved and then came over & presented the tomatoes to me which I promptly put in the refrigerator to cool for lunch.

At noon when she arrived, she had expressed earlier that she would also love some carrot juice, we made this as she watched. Before eating the carrot juice, she watched as I cleaned the juicer. Afterwards she dove in and cut up the tomatoes, onions, garlic, & put in all spices for the Raw Tomato Soup. Marjorie-lee processed & viola lunch was served. She loved everything! She couldn't imagine how something so wonderful could taste so good cold. She's like a small child wanting to know more & more. It's been quite a lot of fun. She has diabetes. I mentioned to her that this Raw diet would cure her of diabetes. However, I told her that's only what I've read & heard as I didn't want to come on too strong. And she said, if you love someone, you'll share what you know. Isn't she something for someone 81 years old. Very open individual which is so rare these days! Afterwards, she wanted to watch your DVD, as she had heard so much about it from both of us. So as we watched your DVD we had dessert. Marjorie-lee made Banana Ice Cream in the food processor & last night we made the Fudge Brownie & placed it in the refrigerator. She also thumbed through your Raw food book. Even her husband loves our recipes. She even said you'll make her a convert yet. We're taking it slow with them but the seed is planted. She's having us over next weekend for a Raw dinner. It should be interesting to see what she serves. Also, since we've been giving her so much food and this week we also gave her our toaster oven, she's coming over next week to help us pack.

By the way a few days ago we made them Boston Lettuce Wraps to try. When she came over, she said forget about her husband, she devoured them all.

Another God moment happened this week! We decided to visit another neighbor in the culdesac. She lives alone and is also 80ish. She had just gotten up from a nap when we arrived. She has terrible arthritis. We brought her some Fudge Balls for her to try. She loved it. As we talked, I remembered Marjorie-lee hadn't finished all her lunch as she was full. We asked her what she was doing for dinner & she simply wasn't sure she was up to much. So Marjorie went home to retrieve her lunch. She was thrilled & thought it looked divine. We made Red Lettuce Wraps & stuffed them with our own sprouted Mung Beans. Friday night my husband John finally came home from being down in St. Petersburg all week. What a welcome site! First thing we introduced him to that we had made this week was the sprouted Hummus on Carrot & Plain Essene crackers which we purchased in Tampa earlier in the week. He was in heaven! He couldnÆt get over all the flavors. He said he could have used some snacks down in St. Petersburg. This week he's taking a cooler down with him! For dinner we made Red Lettuce Wraps. Earlier we made the Guacamole and used this as the filler for the wraps along with the Cauliflower rice. He was just utterly amazed that Cauliflower resembled & tasted just like rice. He loved all the flavors and couldn't really pick out one individually because they all made for such interesting & wonderful flavors as one devoured each wrap.

He couldn't get over what we had both learned this week. We were amazed too!

Perhaps a long email but I just wanted to tell you from us & our neighbors thanks again for your advice, book & DVD. You gave us the knowledge & simplicity to make this Raw diet our own. And now we can go forth & spread these seeds to others.

"It's been a little over a week since I met you in Tampa. I am enjoying your book and really appreciate the information on the DVD.

It is Day 8 for me and so far I have lost 9 lbs! At 33, I have been slender two other times since then at 18 and at 24. I have used food as a coping mechanism for the relationships and situations that had gone awry. My threshold for pain is at hand and I am done. Last week when you met me, I was 5Ǝ" at precisely 250 lbs. Last summer I noticed that my ankles were painfully swollen from July-Sept and now after a few days of downing almost a gallon of water a day and eating raw, my ankles are normal even when I stay outside in the heat!

The biggest thing for me is that my emotional equilibrium is at an even keel. Caffeine and my beloved coffee are gone...Day 2 was ugly...Day 5 was fabu...thanks to you! I even survived a cook-out next door thanks to you iterating to eat food before and to bring food so I won't feel deprived. I showed up with a banana for a snack and a "nice dressed water glass" that had a slice of lemon and peppermint sprig on the side of the glass and a lemon slice floating in the water.

I would highly recommend the DVD (before getting the book if budget doesn't allow both at the same time) to anyone considering going raw since it feels like a "virtual coach" is there with you through two high quality discs. Alissa, you've given so much more than a food prep demo -- there are other bits of information that people really need to truly know about going raw. I'm glad I waited for the book/DVD set to come out! It was a blessing to have met you and I hope to one day do so again where you will see less of me!"

This book is simply superb. Raw food was just an interest but after reading this it is now top priority in my life. Everything I read made sense, something was awakened in me and I am very excited about what such a simple change will bring. The book was a pleasure to read and all your questions about living on raw food are answered. The testimonies are awe-inspiring and I felt privileged to have read them, their gratitude to Alissa was most definitely heartfelt. The recipe section is amazing, full of wonderful foods I can't wait to try. If you only buy one book on raw foods let it be this one - I promise you won't be disappointed!

Now, this is really a great book! I find it very motivating and have been on about 90% raw food ever since I have got it (I was 100% raw for about one month last year); last but not least because of the great recipies it contains! It has all the information you need to embark on a raw food diet including required soaking times for seed, grains and nuts. I like the personal success stories in the book, I myself started eating more and more raw food because of the rheumatoid arthritis that has been bugging me for many years. Reading about people with similar problems who have overcome them by going raw is just wonderful and greatly motivating.

This was one of the first raw recipe books that I bought, at a time when eating raw was still something of a "foreign" thought to me. I certainly understood eating some raw foods (salads, fruit etc.) but could not even imagine being able to eat only raw food for each and every meal. This book was a fantastic introduction to the 'how' of raw. How it was possible to create tasty, mouth watering dishes made from 100% living food. This book is now littered with little post it notes to flag my favourite recipes - it would be a great addition to any book shelf. I should also mention that it is written in a very user-friendly fashion, and does not bamboozle the reader with either too much scientific jargon or incomprehensible concepts.
